Backpacking Trip - April 11-13

Posted on Apr 7 2014 - 10:40am

We need a definite headcount on Tuesday night. The scouts who are backpacking (must be 1st. Class or higher) will need to bring their pack on Tuesday, ready to go, so that group can do a shakedown. Those under 1st. Class will have to have their books so a plan can be made to help them advance this weekend. They will also be planning their menu and deciding who will be buying the food for the weekend. Everyone will need to pay $5.00 for gas and $5.00 for camping. Anyone under 1st Class (or over 1st. Class who won't be backpacking) will need to bring $15.00 for patrol food money.
Until the boys earn 1st. Class, they will be limited on the things that they will be allowed to do such as being able to go on the super trip in August.

New Troop 70 Scoutmaster

Posted on Apr 7 2014 - 10:39am

Let the good times roll Troop 70,

It is now official. Walter (Walt) Bray has officially been named Troop 70's newest Scoutmaster. Over the next several weeks the transition from Bill Tyler will be made. Bill has agreed to stay on full time with the Troop for the next 6 months. This will allow time for a steady and smooth transition.

As many of you know Walt has been an important part of the Troop for the past several years. Serving as Troop Chef, Assistant Scoutmaster and frankly.....a catch all for our Troop. In addition, he has been leading a Webelos den in the Pack at the same time.

Over the past several years Walt has been thru numerous Boy Scout certified training programs and has completed every requirement necessary to perform the position of Scoutmaster. He is part of the OA and most importantly, he has been by Bill's side for the past 6 months taking notes. (That's a lot of notes)

In addition we have 2 new Assistant Scoutmasters: Tim Sudderth and Ronnie Murphy. Welcome aboard.

We are thankful for these leaders and hope everyone (leaders and parents) will help support them in everyway possible.
